Diskdoctor is generally considered a far superior program. The best
program is SpinRite, IMHO. It is commercial software, and it is expensive.
SpinRite is extremely thorough. It will probably output an easy to
understand error message if there is anything wrong with your HDD setup
information. SpinRite might not work if your version is earlier than the
date of manufacture of your hard drive. (I don't know for a fact if it
might not work in this case, this is just my guess.) I don't know if there
exist any versions of SpinRite higher than 3.1, and that version is now very
dated, 08-01-93.
