My earlier message regarding the use of older SoundBlaster and compatible
sound cards for non-IDE CD-ROM drives seems to have gotten lost. I've used
such boards for old Panasonic (Matsushita) drives with good success as well.
I've got an older AWE 32 that has a variety of non-IDE CD-ROM interfaces.
At Fry's Electronics locally (Phoenix, AZ US) they still have some very
cheap (<$20US) cards with these interfaces.
