Have one of these Z88s gathering dust here. Elegant, lightwight thingy,
marvellous keyboard (coffee safe!), and with complete manuals, runs on
four AA batteries for weeks (and on mains forever) - only two problems:
for a glasses wearing user, it's a pain to read the small type 8-line
display. (The Tandy 100/200's were much better in that respect.)
And: the incompatibility to any PC standards would not be a problem if
the documentation for the built-in "BBC-Basic" wouldn't have been so
abominably sloppy. It wouldn't be any technical problem to make it speak
with "normal" 'puters. Only to try some proggies for this tweaked OS
(theoretically perfectly possible) is a real pain in the sitting
region.
(Anyone interested ? Well, there's shipping from Brussels/Belgium
implied.)
