Hello people:
I'm trying to set up Netscape Navigator, version 2.0 to run on a 486,
66 Mhz, 8 Mb RAM system running Windows 3.1. This is the browser I want
to run in this system because of the machine's relatively low memory
resources and because of my small hard drive. This version of Netscape
does not come provided with its own integrated TCP/IP dialer thing. I
tried to establish a TCP/IP connection by using a program named Trumpet
Winsock (Shareware). I feel that I understand perfectly well how I am
supposed to configure it, but I couldn't get the dang thing to work. I
was unsuccessful at getting an IP address returned after PPP negotiations
were started. The problem is not with my modem or my settings, nor is
there a problem with my ISP. I did successfully run Nettamer and
Bobcat/Lynx on the same machine. At this point I would like to try a
different internet dialer-upper program. Can any of you recommend a good
one for me to try? I would appreciate especially some suggestions based
on your own experience in using any particular program you might recommend.
Thanx,
Sam Heywood
