Hi Eko. I assume you are familiar with the few abandonware items
listed on Rich Green's "Free Software For Dos" pages
<http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/1401/softlib1.htm>,
Like Data Perfect, Directory Freedom, 1dirPro, and a few others.
I just picked up on another one; quoting from
<http://www.perftech.com/>:
Effective January 1, 1998, Bay Networks no longer sells,
develops, or provides support for POWERLan, POWERsave
, and POWERfusion products. As a result, POWERLan and
POWERsave are not Year 2000 compliant according to the Bay
Networks standards described in the Bay Networks Year 2000
Product Compliance Policy
(http://www.baynetworks.com/year2000/policy.shtml ).
These products will not be further developed or updated to
meet Bay Networks Year 2000 Compliance in the future.
[...]
POWERLan and POWERsave are now available as freeware ! To see
the list of software and documentation, please click here
<http://www.perftech.com/pwrdownld.htm>.
unquote.
POWERlan, for Dos and Windows. Can be used with Win95 too it seems.
But is it good or bad? How does it compare to say Lantastic,
Personal Netware and other packages? I don't know. Maybe someone
here do? Site offers documentation as separate download, but
unfortunately it turns out to be pretty large MS-WORD documents, so
I didn't bother to download it now. Software it self comes in 3 zip
files of 1.2mb each (floppy disks )
All the best,
Bjorn
