Here's an intresting bit:
Althogh the Personal Edition version of BeOS require the user to
exact it using winzip in Windows 9x, and although the installation
program is windows based, after the isntallation Windows is not
used at all in order to launch BeOS.

The docs dont say it, but when you call up BeOS it "shutdown"
windows and then boots BeOS. I got curious about how it does it..

.. and then I figured it out: its using its own version of Loadlin.
And thats a DOS program. Yup. You can just boot to dos and run the
loader EXE and BeOS will boot without windows.

Well, thats nice. Too bad that the installation still require windows..
