I agree on the convenience - it's a pain to dig around the big mess of
cables just to run FooBar 7 or whatever.  However, they can be circumvented
in much the same way as key-disk systems - especially Windows apps which use
dongles, as they typically need a new (but easily replaceable) VxD to do the
communications without upsetting the system...
