Speaking of modem commands, I've owned quite a few modems over the years, and the
manuals for most of them were pretty good about defining the AT commands, extended
commands, and registers, but I've been curious why none of the several Fax/Data
modems that I've owned have *ever* mention the special fax commands. I think there
is one called AT+f, or something, that will tell you the class your modem can
support, I think. There might be others, too, but I always have to ask someone
because I can never remember them.
