I had a similar experience, although not so bad. I downloaded
both demo.exe and microwin.exe. With ctmouse loaded, the result
was a black screen with white vertical lines, although I was
able to exit either program by hitting <ESC>.
Without ctmouse, demo.exe gave me a solid black screen with a
scrolling band of colours on the left-hand side. I was able to
exit by hitting <CTRL-BREAK> and then <ESC>. The only success I
had was with microwin.exe, without ctmouse. There were some cool
overlapping windows, but they didn't seem to do anything. All I
could do was hit <ESC> to exit the program.
I didn't play with either program for very long, but at no time
did my machine lock up, nor did I find any lost clusters.
