IIRC, the "CD" input is direct digital, while the "AUX" input is
analog (you can bet there is a serial capacitor involved there, and
possibly a small resistive network).

I'd be more worried about it screwing up either the CD or the TV card
if I were you. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could
build an adapter which would be safe and effective, though. (Bring
the two
digital inputs into an OPEN COLLECTOR OR gate, then tie the output to
+5vdc through a 330-ohm resistor. This goes to the SB's CD input.
That way, you could play BOTH at the same time, without any damage!)
Of course, manufacturer's dire warnings about damage which can be
caused by two devices contending for the same data line (one high,
the other low) have always been excessive. (BTW - the "low" device
always wins the struggle...) A betting man would just go ahead and
try the "Y" cord.
