Antonio,

1. if you still use word5 then be careful, because there is a Y2K bug
which appears if you save documents in Word 5. Word 5.5 and Word 6.0
are working well and file structure is almost identical.

2. file structure is very  simple, so you could perhaps
write a converter of your own: Text is in the center part of the
file. Just cut off header and tail.

3. As an example I post a small utility. I wrote it in basic to
convert mainly codepage within Word documents. It can be downloaded
