Hello folks!

Last week I was given a TRS-80, Model 100, complete with an additional
external floppy disk drive (Tandy, Model 2). It has come with an
original Tandy carrying case and a copy of the software utility that
should operate the external fdd. The system functions properly, as
far as I could determine after a few days of experimenting -- except
that I had to order (from Tandy -- yes! -- there's even an 800 number
for stuff this old) a data cable for the ext. fdd, which was missing.
I have the manual for the floppy drive, but I won't be certain whether
or not I'll be able to install the floppy drive software (via a BASIC
program that you set up within the TRS-80) until I get that data cable
from Tandy. And, by the way, I've retrieved from the Internet exact
duplicates of the rest of the original manuals, and these have all the
information about the built-in software, hardware, etc..

First of all, does anyone on the SURVPC list own one of these machines?
It would be interesting to compare what we've got. (Of course, there's
many other places to discuss these machines, but I wanted to start here.)

Secondly, I've got the parallel cable for connecting to a printer,
but my Okidata 9-dot matrix printer will only print one line at a time,
after which it overwrites continuously on the same line. How do I get
it to recognize an automatic CR (carriage return)?

And, finally, does anyone have any experience with the use of its
built-in modem, or with running it with an external modem?

Thanks!
