The only ``new-ish'' function that tempts me to get a new PC with (ugh) some
kind of Winblows, is listening to radio stations all over the country,
in real time, using the internet.
But I am ignorant about the details and would like a little education:
1) What is the minimal speed processor and amount of RAM needed to
hear real time radio? Do I need a PCI bus? Any other hardware ``musts''
I should know about? I understand, if I really want to cheap it out,
there are sound drivers for the tiny PC speaker that do not require
a sound card. Is this wrong?
2) I believe there are several formats used to stream radio to the
PC, realaudio being one of them, but not the only. What audio data
readers are required to maximize the number of radio shows I can receive?
3) Is the software for hearing radio ported to Linux, or must I use
windows? I take it dos is hopeless in this regard?
4) Will arachne every be capable of receiving radio -- or does this
turn on the details of its Linus port?
