>Have you tried using a null modem cable?

Yes, it doesn't work with my PC's serial port. I have had the connection succeed with
using my PC's LPT 1 port, but no terminal software seems to "talk" to the terminal
while using the parallel port...

My main idea is to hook up the terminal's serial (EIA-232-I got the previous wrong!)
port to an external modem, and using the terminal to access BBS's, but I don't have
any idea how to set up the baud rate, terminal type, block mode, connection options,
etc., using the built in DIP config switches, which there are a total of 32, of which
29 are unlabeled. There are labels, but they are blank--I think the service person was
supposed to write them before the terminal was used for a particular
application...There is no "Setup-menu." All configuration is done with the switches,
and three are labled (reverse video, blink cursor, and scroll), and the rest must do
something else-This is where I need YOUR help! If there is some IBM 3101 buff or
someone with experience with anything OTHER than WYSE (Which is all I can find on the
Internet, except Linux "mumbo-jumbo"), that can tell me the meaning of these other 29
config switches, their help will be greatly appreciated!

After config, I think that I can do the rest--just send ATDT (xxx) xxx-xxxx, and hit
the "SEND" key, and have a BBS logon screen! At least I think that is all there is to
it--The solution to hooking it up to my computer is as futile as getting a Whitetail
Deer to live for 20 years...(LOL).
