I think the information I supplied does address that
situation: to enter an esc code into a text you're writing
with MSDOS edit, hold down the "ctrl" key and hit "p".
The Opendos editor also has this ability - see "dosbook
edit" for details. (Better yet, download the DOS version of
"joe" and you'll be able to easily enter any codes you
like, in your choice of hex, octal, or decimal notation.)
