You shouldn't need a PPoE driver unless your provider requires it. Not all
cable systems (thankfully) use PPoE. I briefly used DR-DOS (when it was
free) over my Cox@Home cablem modem. Once I had the Ethernet and TCP/IP
drivers loaded and configured, it was happy.
