Use Ladsoft's LSppp instead of dosppp/epppd - it has smaller footprint
is faster _and_ continues to be supported by its author (dosppp isn't
maintained any more since 1997, and has difficulties with some tweaked
ASP's tweaked protocols); it even has an own dialler intgegrated but
that one is a bit buggy with some modems - though you need not use it,
if it doesn't work (the PPP driver is excellent and doesn't need the own
dialler if the line is already open).  One alternative is Baldwin's
DialPC, for instance.

Baldwin not so long ago had announced an improved version right here on
this list.)
