While you can "shell to DOS" from Arachne, it isn't "true multi-tasking" in that you
can't start a
download, then shell to DOS and say fire up NetTamer or Lynx or something else...if
you try it,
Arachne will stop the download immmediately, but hold the connection open. Trumpet IRC
has limited shell to DOS, as does my own WizLynx, but not multi-tasking. The only DOS
Internet client I have ever tried that did multi-task is Minuet...but with the changes
in protocols,
especially HTTP and some FTP, I can't recommend Minuet for everyday use...I have
managed to do a Gopher download at same time as checking email on POP3 though! This is
what I'm wanting in Arachne, true multi-tasking, where I can start a download from one
open
browser window, then open a new window or whatever you wish to call it, and go to a
completely different site or check email or something else! That's a reason I feel
"multi-
document windows" is something Arachne MUST HAVE if it is to remail a viable
alterenative
on ANY operating syste, not just DOS, but Linux too!
