The login password from any distribution can be removed by
editing /etc/passwd.  Just delete the first field after the
username.

Oh my, a GUI login.  No wonder your system takes so long to
boot.  It's loading X (plus who knows what).  As a dedicated
DOS user, you might be more comfortable with a CLI login
(it would certainly be faster).

Ctrl-Alt-F2 should do it.
