MultiMail can read SOUP packets. If you use uka_ppp to transfer mail (and news), SOUP packets can be created using the x_spool utility and MultiMail can be used instead of Yarn or Crosspoint. If you use another transfer program, you will have to use some other method to create the SOUP packets. I experimented a bit with my own utilities, but didn't see much value in continuing. The conversion is not necessary with Yarn, since it can import unix mailboxes (and rnews batches), as well as SOUP. When I was using DOS on a daily basis, I didn't find that there was very much interest in this stuff. Now that I am using Linux almost exclusively, it seems like ancient history. FWIW, in Linux, I use exim + fetchmail + mutt for email, slrnpull or leafnode + slrn for news, and ztelnet or ftp + MultiMail for Fidonet (QWK).
