If they all owned the hardware, and thus had complete
control over what went on their net. I dunno how hard
that would be to do with the stuff we now have.

I remember a personal kind of service, where I would
get a phonecall from the sysop trying to make damn
sure that I was a real person, and not a commercial
operation that could flood him with spam.

It is an interesting idea, a kind of ISP coop. How
hard would it be to setup? I see a rap in PC mag by
Dvorak discussing spam, and think that if even a geek
like him hasta put up with it, there must not be any
other solution.
