RFC 822 is the basic one, amended/added-to/modified by a plethora of
later ones (though, those changes did not affect the basic scheme of
"raw" mail.)

I have to respond to the other thread re the "dot-line" yet.

I have no idea, never had contact with the FIDOnets around here. At
the time that mail went this way I had a telco "data line" (aka X.25)
and a 'puter with full 32 _K_bytes of TOTAL memory, <g>.
I'm indeed subsribed to this legacy branch of the SurvPC list on an
old "free" Belgacom (ex- and still very monoplistic nat.telco). Though
the moment I can migrate with keeping my wired-tel no.� they have seen
me.
