Paul,
You might be able to use the computer "as is" if it has
MS Dialup Networking version 1.4 installed...it has
settings for file and printer sharing.  Look in the
NetWork Neighborhood and see what is listed.  You
may need to create a new connection and define it
as the "server"...the setting you mentioned in the
"Control Panel" as "server" refers more to the
number and size of com port buffers rather than an
actual use.  FWIW, I have my Win95 486DX4 setup as
a "server" in this setting, but, I do not use it as
a server, and don't have file/printer sharing enabled
(read all security precautions relating to these!)
My 486DX4 also only has 24 meg RAM...so far it has
performed admirably.
