Hi everybody, I want to try Linux on a Pentium 166mmx with 40Mb RAM and 524Mb Hard disk. I have never used Linux before. Which distribution should I choose. If possible I would like to be able to have a graphical interface. I imagine I need to load a Linux distro a couple of years old. New versions I have been checking require massive amounts of Hard drive space.
By the way I also have a Pentium 200Mhz without mmx. Which chip is faster the 166mmx or the 200 without mmx? Supposedly mmx chips had larger integrated cache memory and other optimizations which made them faster than their non-mmx counterparts. Is this true in everyday use? or is it just intel trying to make us pay more for the mmx chips? Cheers, Inigo __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo!
