Hi Listers!
Well, I have created a ZIP archive of the necessary files
from MS Internet Explorer 3.03 for Win3X to have ONLY the
dialer, the tcp/ip stack and a simple dialup scripter.
I've added and extracted bits and pieces from the README.TXT
included in the full IE 3.03 installer...might help someone
having problems finding a dialer and tcp/ip stack for a
Windows 3.1 machine! The file can be located using FTP,
at the public FTP site hosted by tmonroe.com (thanks, Garry!)
Get your FTP client fired up, the open a session to
ftp.tmonroe.com, login with username public and the password
public...look for IEDIAL16.ZIP and the text file IEDIAL16.TXT.
There is a pretty good instruction included for anyone having
problems getting Win3X to connect to a previously installed
WINSOCK.DLL also...be sure and extract the ZIP with the option
to re-create the directory...ie PKUNZIP -d IEDIAL16.ZIP then
press ENTER. By default it will extract to the directory
/IEDIAL and also the MODEM.INF files for setting up various
modems will be placed in the /IEDIAL/INF subdirectory. Once
extracting, you can create a Program Manager group in the usual
way, and create Program items for IEDIAL.EXE and ICWMAN16.EXE,
to create one for your ISP, run IEDIAL then if there is not
a configuration file, one will be created...the first connection
will be named CON00000.CON, so to automatically launch the dialer
with that ISP, the command line to use for your shortcut will be:
IEDIAL.EXE /IEDIAL/CON00000.CON
Good Luck!
