Dear Steven and List:
Many thanks for the information about the new Basiclinux
package. Although I am more interested in larger Linux installs
presently, I still welcome this information. The new Slackware
distro 8.0 seems interesting, although I don't have the time presently
to install it. My Basiclinux package was downloaded onto my primary
dos partition and it is the 1.7 package. I think I also have the
install-to-HD package as well. It's all a matter of what one wants
primarily, and I think it's a matter of tradeoffs. I was fortunate
but blessed at getting a minimal X-Window server running on an old
VGA monitor I found {free!}. I decided to install a
low-resolution X-server so that I could run a few X-packages if I
want to. Maybe with a new hard drive, more RAM, etc.....
I dont' see any practical way around having some mixed file
formats, regardless of whether one runs X on OS/2, Unix, Linux,
or any other variant. Also there is the issue of whether one
wants an alternate Windoze drive {my relatives..}. Thanks.
yours,
Thomas
