Per my previous message to the list, I am continuing to use Vectorlinux on
my P75 with 32MB RAM with pretty decent results. A bit slow at some
things, but overall the performance is acceptable. I should mention up
front that, having heard some good things about reiserfs, I decided to
try it out on this install. Anyway, I'm beginning to
consider "downgrading" kernels, since I understand that the newer,
larger kernels can affect performance on survpc's. And, I'm guessing
there are alot of things compiled into this stock 2.4.19 kernel that I
just won't need - e.g., USB support. I would just like to ask some general
advice on what I'll be up against in downgrading to an older kernel. Can I
expect a "stock" kernel to work, say, one from an older Slackware install
CD? Will the reiserfs pose problems for older kernels? Will I need to
compile a kernel from source to get it to work? Input on this will be
appreciated.

Thanks, James
