I've had this problem myself, too -- especially when lots of graphics
are stored in Netscape's cache. Generally, the Netscape window freezes
and blanks (goes white or grey) before I need to execute the killall.

But -- the good news is -- the 2.2.1 kernel solved *most* of the
problem. At least on my rig; your own milage may vary. I still have to
call killall once a day or so, but the frequency's down to 20% of
before.

I'd highly recommend compiling 2.2.x kernel and trying it out -- yes,
the improvement might be that good.
