I made some progress with my printer problem:

-Called yast, configured a new printcap (after using the settings below
didn't work)
-Enabled permissions for ../lpd/"printer"-ascii-mono" directory

Now, I'm getting this error:

lpr: connect: Connection refused
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon

I wonder what's wrong.
My lpd seems to load okay on boots.

I also noted that when I do the following:

~#killall lpd

~>lpd (calling lpd from user)

I get this message:

lpd failed to open configuration file '/etc/plp.conf': No such file or
dir

(It's true that this file doesn't exist on my system)

I wonder if this nonexistent plp.conf file could be the problem . . .
