I have an additional reason to ALWAYS want external modems.
They can be turned off INDEPENDENTLY from the comp itself.
I would consider it a security risk to have an internal:
A virus/trojan could (without my knowledge) dial up to
anywhere (or if i use diald: go online) and transmit
private documents to anyone or just dial an expensive
number (in a foreign country) and spend all my money.
With an external modem I can prevent all this, simply
by turning off the modem.
