Compile them yourself to be sure all the modules are correct.

I'm running 2.2.3 right now, and made no package upgrades to my suse6.
Man works fine.

It takes less than a half hour to compile your 2.2.3 kernel and modules,
from a tgz source package. The biggest time consumer is going
thru the make menuconfig to customize your kernel.
