I installed SuSE 6.0 a couple of weeks ago, and have been using the
2.0.36 bundled kernel. I finally got some time this weekend and
compiled/installed the 2.2.4 kernel.  However, now my CD-ROM doesn't
work.
# mount /mnt/cdrom
results in:
mount: fs type unknown not supported by kernel

My /etc/fstab looks like:
<snip>
/dev/hdc        /mnt/cdrom      iso9660 ro,noauto,user 0 0
<snip>
which is how its been since the beginning. The drive is an Acer 24x
ATAPI/IDE drive, and was working like a charm under RedHat, SuSE 5.3,
6.0, and I've compiled many kernels. I've compiled 5 times already
double, triple, and quadruple checking all the options on block devices
and file systems.  Any tips?

I'm not compiling anything as modules, so it can't be that a mod is not
loaded... Support for Joliet and ISO9660 fs are selected, as is support
for the appropriate ATAPI/IDE block devices.
