I have used a variety of programs including eudora and pmmail. I didnt
really care for the later versions of eudora because of some severe
problems I had with it and NT 4. Pmmail was okay; but hands down my
favorite in the win9x world is a little one called The_Bat. It does not
do html message reading but thats okay. On this side, I really prefer
tkrat but tkrat has some issues with SuSE 6 and some sort of tcl/tk
problem. I have a work around that allows me to use tkrat 1.2. Others
I have tried and dropped include xfmail, balsa, xcfmail, and arrow.
None of them seem to approach tkrat in terms of use. I have also used
ishmail which is a commercial program. I like the ability with tkrat
to use both virtual folders, saved expressions, and have a lot of
freedom with setup and use. Another good one, not gui, is mutt. I
believe that mutt probably offers the most bang for the bark :)
It just does stuff like message threading, it handles email lists
differently, it has a such a variety of configuration options that I
never get tired of experimenting, and it seems able to adapt to most
situations. That said, I still think that tkrat is the best. It just
has the stuff I like for an email client.
