Last night's efforts amounted to getting the above set to run fine BEFORE I
had gone into X.
After going into X lynx could not find URLs (i.e. I did startx whilst still
connected via lynx) and
Netscape couldn't either. I shut down X and re-dialed using wvdial.Error
message "modem not responding".
