Okay, I've waited a couple of days to see if someone else will respond, but I see no one has. What you need to do your install is a second machine with a CDROM drive running NFS. (You also need a network connection between the two machines) You simply set up your DNS machine to export CD1 to a specific location and then tell the sparc machine to install via NFS, and it will ask for the address and directory to use.
It is also possible to boot the sparc from the remote machine as well. (This is handy if you don't have floppy drives on the sparc) That requires setting up a BOOTP configuration on the remote machine, and tftp as well. (If you read the documentation its really not that hard) Hope this has helped you out some! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2002 9:09 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [suse-sparc] linux sparc installation hello, I would like to install the sparc suse linux version on my old sparc machine. unfortunately, i don't have a sparc conforming cdrom drive. how can i install the iso without having a cd-rom drive on my sparc machine, but on any other i386 linux machine or windows machine. thanks in advance. m. neaga -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
