The man page for MAKEDEV specifies that MAKEDEV supports up to 8 SCSI devices. Therefore sdh will be the last one. I tried MAKEDEV update after installing the drives with the option of listing just the modification withouti nstalling them. It wa not going to add any new drives.
Drives are Fibre-Channel, so no termination involved. The drives are seen by the kernel, as highlighted by the logs I attached. I think I need to make the nodes myself in /dev using mknod but I need to know how to find out major/minor number to identify the device. -----Original Message----- From: Erric Gilbert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2002 12:26 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [suse-sparc] How tdo I add new drives ? That is odd, I am on a machine that has up to j with no special config on my part. Have you checked your SCSI terminiation? In the /dev dir do you have device entries for more then sdh? I have 256 entries. If for some reason you do not have these entries, you should be able to create them with the MAKEDEV script in /dev. This is a package that might not be installed by default so you may need to add this. > -----Original Message----- > From: Solarisexpert.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, May 01, 2002 1:21 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [suse-sparc] How tdo I add new drives ? > > > Greetings, > > I have 14 disks connected to my Sun box.
