John: On bootup, SuSE displays the kernel in use. SMPs from SuSE will have the '-SMP' suffix in their version number. (My guess would be that you installed a single-processor kernel if you've only recently added the 2nd processor, no?)
On the other hand, if you are installing SuSE for the first time, you will be prompted to choose the kernel you wish... You can also compile-your-own kernel with the SMP option on... Here's a good url for some pictures of various Sparc items: <http://lios.apana.org.au/~cdewick/sunshack/data/sunpix_sbus.html> Best luck - Lou > how do I tell if I am running an SMP kernel... and where do I get one if > I'm not... > > (you can stop laughing anytime now ;) > > I'm very very new to linux and just trying to muddle my way thru > > John -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
