Seen that on a lot of kernels since 2.4.15-preX, that means, since 2.4 is running in sparc32 at all. strace shows that the offending call seems to be harmless (a read at the very end, when swap has already been initialized fine.
 
It has been resolved with some patches in the aurora kernel (the aurora project tries to revive redhat/sparc) and are waiting for inclusion in the mainstream kernel. Anyway, as you obeserved the  problem seems to of rather cosmetic nature, so I wouldn't be bothered too much about it.
