Hello,
I just subscribed to this list today, and from reading the archives I have
less skill with linux operating systems, and much less skill with sparc
hardware than the average user of this list, so if I sound dumb, ask
redundant or seemingly meaningless questions, it is because I am dumb...
especially when it comes to this particular area. =P
Okay, I am 17 yr old college student at Carnegie Mellon University, I study
Electrical and Computer Engineering, and I am working on a Comp Sci dbl
major (maybe in 4.5 yrs, w/ some luck).
I recently spent a couple weeks wages, to put together the following system.

sparc 20, with a 150 mhz ross hypersparc (colorodo III)
256 mb ram, a tgx+ frame buffer, i think i have an 8mb vsimm, a floppy
drive, and a scsi 9.1 gb hd, and a cd-rom, the system boots, and runs
solaris 8 without any problems ( no problems as far as I can tell)

I want to install suse 7.3 pckg. I am looking for any information anyone
might have. Will I be able to make use of the bootable cd's SuSe provides?
Does anyone else run SuSe on a similar system, what kinds of problems did
you encounter w/ hardware support by SuSe if any? Does anyone have an idea
of how the os will run on my machine, horribly slow, or will I be okay? Will
I be able to use gui panels, like KDE, or GNOMES w/o problem or will it be
too much stress on a machine like mine, any general knowledge or things you
think I should know about would be GREATLY appreciated. I am a novice at
this, so if I sound dumb and out of place try not to quarter me, I really do
need help/guidance.

thx very much
