I'm attaching an e-mail I received a while ago about very similar problems, maybe this will help you. I never quite got around to trying the fixes as other things kept creeping up and it just sits on my to-do list to try out. I wonder if there could be some version issues in yast2 with 7.3. Since I installed it, when I try and install more packages each time it asks for a different CD it complains about the version number not being quite right.
