FYI/To whom it might concern: if anyone of you might want to try to use
ncpfs on Novell on a 64 Bit Ultra Sparc (maybe this holds true for other
systems, too), you *should* upgrade to kernel 2.4.20 & ncpfs-2.0.0.19.
Otherwise things will fail.
-> get vanilla 2.4.20,
-> get ncpfs-src-rpm from the SuSE 8.1 distribution
and you will be capable to work as you might expect it to. In addition,
there are several useful hints with regard to the basic ncpfs-configuration
that come along with the 8.1-src-distribution
