ok, so -f -a3 seems to work.

Hm, what type of graphics card is this and which X driver does it use?

Well, you could just compile the CVS, _not_ install it but use s2ram from
the source directory with "./s2ram -f -p -m". OTOH, if -a 3 is working
fine, there is no need to try this.
