You may find that it is the binding agent (glue) that lets go on you due to the chems and not the PVC itself. The main manifold is not that complicated. Have you taken a look at my set up ? Check out the upper and lower plumbing. It's pretty simple stuff, yet fully functional. http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_processor12.html It is basically a tke off from other ideas but just happens to all be in one place. The tubing is braided, as should all of it be, otherwise it may collapse under the pump pressure and be an annoyance.

Ken, et al;

So from all the submission on the question of using PVC pipe rather than
iron in the appleseed processor it seems that the failures are due more to
UV than the chemicals in the process. If that is true, then PVC should work
fine. Is that the case in your professional opinion? I would rather use
PVC since it is easier to source, cheaper, lighter, and easier to work with.

Thanks you,

Hi all,

I sell PVC additives for a living. I would like to comment on the observed
problem. PVC by nature is "afraid" of UV light. PVC becomes brittle and
discolored when exposed to alot of sunlight. Usually titanium dioxide,
carbon black and/or acrylic type impact modifiers are added to help PVC
become more resistant to UV light. When these additives are included there is still some degredation but physical properties are preserved depending of
the spec of the finished product. One way to tell if the PVC has degraded
is discoloration, colors become faded, losing shininess and changing of
color like white to off white or yellowish white. When PVC degrade usually
it turns yellowish so for blue pipes it turns alittle greenish. For grey
pipes its going to be hard to detect so better buy the white or colored ones
if you can. Same thing for valves or any PVC article. Keep it out of the
sun or have it covered to make it last longer. Hope this helps.

Ken
