Brazil allows voluntary B20 and B30 blending, experiments with B100
The National Council of Energy Policy (CNPE) of the Brazilian government
has authorized the sale and voluntary use of biodiesel blends exceeding
the mandatory blending percentage.
Currently, Brazilian service stations sell diesel with a 7% mandatory
biodiesel blend.
According to the resolution, captive fleets and public pumps can use and
sell biodiesel with blends up to 20%, while rail transport, agriculture,
and industrial users are allowed to go up to 30%
The ruling also allows for experimental use of 100% biodiesel.
However, the higher percentage mixtures must meet the additional
provisions established by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas
and Biofuels (ANP).
ANP will hold two public auctions to supply the needed extra biodiesel,
according to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
