Marian,

I believe that there is also a Scandinavian company involved, or may have
been a partner with the Scots.

The sad irony is that if Americans, American government leaders and American
corporate moguls had the vision, creativity and a willingness to invest in the
future instead of a myopic focus on short-term profits, this technology would
likely now be manufactured in Schenectady and shipped up the Erie Canal instead
of manufactured in Europe and shipped up the St. Lawrence Seaway.

People forget that Schenectady, NY was for nearly a century the center of a
prosperous high technology region based on electrical equipment research,
design and manufacturing. Now GE is a financial services corporation.

Upstate New York would probably not be the economic basket case we are today.

  George

I think you refer to Iberdrola, George, which does own a number of the
wind farms in New York through their recent acquisition of Scottish
Power/PPM Energy, which built Maple Ridge in Northern NY.

Last year, Iberdrola acquired Community Energy, which owns wind farms in
PA. http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/story?id=44798
There was a public meeting last week about Iberdrola's bid to acquire
Energy East, which owns NYSEG and Rochester Gas and Electric.
