Let's nip this one in the bud. What is being talked about is adding a farmers market on or near the Commons, not replacing the existing Steamboat Landing market.
Thanks to Lyn Gerry for the reality check. I was aware of many of the obstacles she cites, but not all. We are dealing with a century's worth of regulatory accretions, all developed to deal with some problem or another, all intended to protect the public health, but the net effect is to create difficult hurdles for small producers. We may be able to revisit this regulatory framework if food availability becomes an issue. In the meantime, it will make positioning ourselves for energy descent that much more difficult.
