For anyone who was not able to go to the Tompkins County Cooperative Extension
Annual Meeting on Wednesday, there is another opportunity tonight (Friday).

The session on Wednesday featured a speaker from Denmark talking about their
systems for district heating (using diverse energy sources) and CHP (Combined
Heat and Power, which recaptures lost heat from electricity generation to heat
and cool buildings, saving an enormous amount of energy). The front page
Ithaca Journal article yesterday described the talk quite well. Denmark has
gone from being a huge net importer of energy to being a net exporter, with
significantly reduced carbon emissions. There are opportunities for pursuing
such systems in Tompkins County. Tonight's presentation will be on the same
subject and presumably more detailed since it's longer:

"Energy Independence for Buildings in Tompkins County"
7 to 9 pm, at the Dorothy and Roy Park Center for Sustainable Enterprise,
Sgrecci Lecture Hall Room 111.

This is right on target and critical for the future. Can anyone fill us in on
the Coop Ext talk earlier this week about the district biomass system in
Denmark?
