We're on the same page then. I do appreciate the FreeDOS kernel a lot,
but... that's pretty much it. The "distribution" organization is very
chaotic. I also find it regrettable that nobody cares any more about
8086 compatibility.
SvarDOS is more in the spirit of good old MS-DOS (+
networking/package management).
That's *exactly* what I'm aiming for. Something like MSDOS 5.0, tiny,
lightweight, 8086-compatible, but with packages and an online repo (or
"app market") so it's easy to pull a game or program from the repo and
run it.

I did it primarily for my own use, but then though that perhaps other
people could find it useful as well. I'm glad you did! (and other people
as well).
There's still a lot to do, though, esp. in the documentation and
translation departments, as well as packaging.
