As SvarDOS uses the FreeDOS kernel, I remember some discussion on the
FreeDOS mailing list about the FreeDOS kernel being slower during disk
access compared to MS-DOS. IIRC, there were some ideas, but none has
been implemented so far, because the kernel being a complex thing.

Besides what Mateusz already said: Only non-US-English installations of
SvarDOS install a keyboard driver in AUTOEXEC.BAT.
So, if you installed US-English, but it crashed on boot, then it's not a
fault of a keyboard driver.
