well i would like to have an administration user interface, that is made dynamically. hence flash. now svg is great as an open standard but in terms of a front end for an App, an SVG/Image App, i dont think it could hack it (i am however using SVG as a powerful 'backend typw features to store my image info'). Flash MX 2004 however has very powerful features in terms of developing front ends for applications and communicating with databases to get info to display/DOM manipulation.. i would prefer to hold this info in SVG and display it using Flash. Now i could do the same user interface within Java language, but i hear flash as a GUI front end kicks Java's ass, in terms of performance [probably still use java as a backend though]. Do you think that this is a situation where just SVG by itself would not be able to handle things i want? if not show me a friend end SVG that communicates to a database onLoad an SVGpage, or onclick a button to call a complex Java code. I realize svg has scripting abilities but saometimes u just need more powerful backend (Java) and as a front end app, i do not think i have seen too many SVG as a complete front end App (using Batik in Java is rather slowww for graphics stuff flash already does at reasonable speed and 98% of computers have it installed).

I seem to remember that one can use activeX objects in flash (maybe through some add-on or plugin), so you might be able to start the ASV viewer inside Flash... > > My main question is: Why would you want to...? > > ____________________________ > Barend Kbben > International Institute for Geo-information Sciences and Earth Observation (ITC) > PO Box 6, 7500AA Enschede (The Netherlands) > ph: +31-(0)534874253; fax: +31-(0)534874335 > _____________________________ > > ________________________________ > > From: arianhojat2000 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wed 26-Jan-05 17:48 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [svg-developers] svg in a FLASH APP?!? > > > > > > hehe. i was wondering could i mess with a dynamic xml/svg document in > flash and display it with maybe a few jpegs from the server [filtered > with svg and watermarked with svg] and display it all at same time > within Flash? > > i would make slight modificiations to the image like filter effects, > resizing with svg, but was wondring then could it be dynamically > displayed in flash? > > if anyone can post a simple .fla demonstrating how it could be done or > a direction to go in. thanx! > > > > > > ----- > To unsubscribe send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > -or- > visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/svg-developers and click "edit my membership" > ---- > Yahoo!
